National History Day Rulebook

Above is a link to the National History Day Rulebook. The Rio Grande Valley History Day contest is a recognized state affiliate of the National History Day contest and upholds the rules of the National History Day rulebook.

The Rio Grande Valley Regional History Day has offered RGV students the opportunituy to participate in the National History Day Competition since 1999.  

Students in Valley middle and high schools, as well as home shooled students, participate in school district level compettitons at the Junior (6th-8th Grade) and Senior (9th-12th Grade).  Students may enter in a number of formats (paper, web page, performance, exhibit, documentary)  You can find the rule book here:  https://www.nhd.org/sites/default/files/Contest-Rule-Book.pdf.  The top two winners from each school distroct in each category advance to the regional cometition at UTRGV.  Each student must pay a $7.00 entry fee ($10.00 for late registration)

This years's category is Conflict and Compromise in History.  You can find more information on History Day at :  https://www.nhd.org/.

Public Display

On the day of the contest, student exhibits will be available for public viewing during an alloted time period. Check back as the contest date approaches for a finalized schedule.

Students who have paid are considered to have already pre-registered and do not need to check in.  

Students should plan to arrvive at the UTRGV-Brownsville Campus by 8:00 when judging starts..

Contestants should arrive at least 10-15 minutes head of their scheduled time in case of a cancellation.  Audience memebers are asked to kindly silence electronic devices.
